Free West Style Guide

The DOs

See the links to help understand the process & ask questions!

www.freewestphotography.ca/common-questions

  1. Wear Earthy tones in the color charts of autumn, deep summer and deep winter, as they translate well with our editing style (see helpful palettes below)
  2. Utilize the client closet, if needed, and ask your photographer for advice on your chosen outfits
  3. Match your loved ones within palettes, but not exactly the same outfits is ideal
  4. Dress for the weather
  5. If tanning, go with a more natural tan or if you get a spray get it within 3 days of shoot (be careful with spray tans, if it is inconsistent or has not settled, editing the multiple tones can be quite difficult)
  6. Fill your lashes or access the MUA
  7. Nails painted (just for ring or up close hand photos)

Remember, these are just helpful guidelines to make the outcome of your shoot the best it can be!

The DO NOTs:

  1. Come to any shoot sick or recently exposed to COVID 19
  2. Bright, primary colors
  3. Be unprepared for the weather or location
  4. Wear plaid when no one else is in plaid (plaid can look good when done right, please see palettes to match plaid colors and ask your artist Plaid is best outside and paired with solids
  5. Colors that do not match the location
  6. Styles that aren't fitted to your shoot type

(ie. wears plaid in city or sunglasses and baseball cap during special events)

other tips:

No tan is better than a fake tan, unless done right. Suggest you let your artist know you'd like a warmer edit on your skin tone.
