We have a mission here at Free West Photography, to create those lasting memories. We use methods of both candid and posed photo shots & we put the most importance on ORGANIC moments. Organic moments can happen anytime & we are determined to capture where you and your loved ones are now with their looks, laughter, personalities, faces, and true/authentic selves. We believe authenticity is important because truly freezing moments in time is even more sweet when we can travel back to those moments and remember ourselves & our loved ones in those moments in time, as they were.

Our average Process:

1-2 hours emailing (total combined)

1 hour consultations, 1 hour print consultation

1-12 hours designing and setup

1-3 hours shooting

10-45 min per image editing

5+ hours of driving, social media, SEO, website, dress consultation and try-ons, etc

1+ hour per shoot back-end business (admin)

Video average 15-20 hours of editing

PER SESSION: $700 PER HOUR + $120 for second shooter +GST

Photographers who are operating legally and professionally have thousands in equipment, including hundreds of dollars in storage, insurance costs.

Photographers do not get vacation days, days without inquiries or calls or requirements. They do not get tax breaks, bonuses or payment for any type of health or other medical insurances. 40% goes straight to taxes + 5% for GST and then we are typically owing $2000-$5000 at the end of the year for adjustments made by the CRA.

We also pay 10% of all photoshoots or any income to charities.

We must pay for childcare, where others may not, due to offering free second shooters and having both a photographer and director at each shoot.

We do not charge the client extra for extra processing, changes or photoshop edits.

We pay a lot for our editing software and also offer copyright safe music where even when our term ends with the software, your music is legal and safe to have forever on social media and other online platforms.

We are incredibly dedicated to the outcome and if the vision is not right, we will reshoot once for clients. Please do not take advantage of this as if it is a free shoot. This is if memory cards fail or your shoot had some type of change (harsh weather, missing family member we can’t photoshop in, issues with wardrobe, etc.)
